Britain raises funding for Olympic team for 2012

Britain is increasing funding for its team at the 2012 London Olympics, although the spending per athlete is dropping slightly from Beijing.
British Olympic Association chief executive Andy Hunt announced on Tuesday that 13 million pounds ($21 million) will be spent on the 550 athletes on home soil.
That works out at 24,000 pounds ($38,000) per athlete compared to 26,000 pounds ($41,200) at the 2008 Games, when there was an 8 million pound-package ($12.7 million) excluding flights.
Britain finished fourth in the medal standings in Beijing.
Hunt says "we have to recognize that maintaining that fourth place in the medal table is going to be very, very tough."
