Georgia oppos'n: photographer confession in doubt

Georgia's most prominent opposition politician is suggesting that the confession to espionage by President Mikhail Saakashvili's personal photographer could be a bogus admission made under pressure.
Irakli Gedenidze is one of three photographers charged last week with espionage for allegedly passing on confidential information about the president's plans and the layout of his administration building. Georgian authorities say the information was given to agents working for Russian military intelligence.
Hours after he was charged on Saturday, authorities released a video of Gedenidze confessing.
But Nino Burdzhanadze, a former Saakashvili ally now in opposition, on Monday told Russia Today television: "Nobody trusts such confessions coming from the arrested."
