Turkish court charges 4 in embezzlement case

A court has charged four men with allegedly embezzling money from a Turkish charity, two years after three Turks were convicted in a related case in Germany.
The court in Ankara on Monday charged Zahid Akman, the former head of the country's television watchdog, as well as three senior officials of a pro-Islamic television station, Kanal 7 with siphoning money donated to Deniz Feneri, or Lighthouse.
The organization helps feed, clothe, educate and house the poor.
In 2008, a German court convicted three men of embezzling euro14.5 million (US$20.7 million) in donations from Deniz Feneri, largely through ads that ran on Turkish-language broadcasters in Germany.
