Prosecutors decide against snooker fixing charges

Snooker's governing body says Scottish prosecutors decided there is not enough evidence to press criminal charges against Stephen Maguire and Jamie Burnett for fixing a match.
Police questioned the pair after their December 2008 U.K. Championship match attracted heavy betting predicting a 9-3 score.
Maguire won by that margin after his fellow Scot missed a routine black that would have made the score 8-4.
Both players denied wrongdoing but the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association is still deciding whether to take disciplinary action.
WPBSA chairman Jason Ferguson says "we will now be given access to the evidence connected with the case and our disciplinary committee will review that evidence thoroughly."
