Pakistan, China premiers meet amid tension with US

Pakistan's prime minister is meeting with his Chinese counterpart in a sign of strong ties amid heightened tensions between Washington and Islamabad.
Yousuf Raza Gilani held talks with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday. They were expected to witness the signing of agreements in fields ranging from banking to defense.
The accords reflect long-standing close relations between China and Pakistan that contrast with a downturn in ties between Islamabad and Washington following the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Analysts say Pakistan is emphasizing its friendship with Beijing as a snub to Washington while also pushing efforts to counter Indian influence in Asia.
