From May 16 through the end of the month, Sheraton Taipei Hotel presents the Macau Gourmet Festival with almost fifty dishes at its Kitchen 12. From Portuguese Style African Chicken, to Braised Pork Knuckles and Red Kidney Beans to Duck Gratin with Rice, the selection aims to offer customers a wonderful dining experience.

Macau cuisine features a mixed style of Cantonese, Portuguese, and a variety of spices from Africa, India and Malaysia that came with the Portuguese people, resulting in a highly exotic food culture in the region.

One of the classic cuisines in the selection is the Portuguese Style Baked Chicken. The chicken is first chopped into small chunks, and then marinated with salt and pepper, before stir-frying them until half-baked. A sauce made of curry and turmeric powder and coconut milk is then added to stew with the chicken until they are ready.

The Deep Fried Batata Puree with Bacalhau is another must-try dish. They are basically fried fish balls but ones made with quality codfish and a delicate culinary process. The fish was marinated with sea salt, pepper and cinnamon leaves for two days, before mashed with potato and seasoned in milk and white wine.

As for more Cantonese style dishes, don’t miss out the Braised Pork Mousse and Tofu, and Deep Fried taro Cake Stuffed with Duck Meat. These are dishes you don’t find in restaurant in general.

The selection of dishes is served in buffet style. For lunch from Monday to Friday, the price is NT$890 for adults, and NT$480 for children. For dinner from Monday to Thursday, the price is NT$890 for adults and NT$480 for children. From Friday to Sunday, dinner costs NT$1,080 for adults and NT$500 for children.
