An attorney who's been hired by the likes of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and ex-New York Giants star Plaxico Burress has a new challenge: defending an International Monetary Fund leader against sex-assault charges.
Benjamin Brafman said Tuesday that he was brought into the case by a Washington, D.C., lawyer who knows Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the head of the IMF.
Other prominent New York City defense lawyers say Brafman is a good choice to handle a pressure-cooker case.
In 2004, he helped Combs beat gun-possession charges in another case causing a media frenzy. He also engineered a 2009 plea deal that got Burress a reduced sentence in own gun case.
The 62-year-old Brafman began his legal career more than three decades ago as a state prosecutor.
