Manchester City is on the verge of qualifying automatically for the Champions League after beating Stoke 3-0 on Tuesday, three days after defeating the same opponent in the FA Cup final to end a 35-year title drought.
Carlos Tevez scored twice and Joleon Lescott added another goal at Eastlands for Man City to move past Arsenal and claim third place in the Premier League with one round remaining.
The top three teams advance to the group stage of European football's top club event. The fourth-place side has to negotiate a playoff.
Tevez found the net in the 14th and 65th minutes to take his league tally to 21 goals this season, equal best with Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Lescott scored in the 53rd minute.
