At least 8 miners trapped in Colombian coal mine

At least eight miners are trapped in a caved-in coal mine in southeastern Colombia, and authorities say they could still be alive.
An official with the city of Cali says noises have been heard from inside the mine, though they were not human voices. The miners are trapped about 60 meters (197 feet) from the mine's entrance.
Colombian Red Cross rescue chief Alfonso Vargas says the causes of Tuesday morning's accident remain unknown. Strong rains have fallen on the region and could have contributed to the cave-in. Vargas says about 50 rescuers are working at the Loma Gorda mine near the city of Cali.
Vargas wouldn't say whether the miners have access to water or cell phones or whether they're pinned under debris.
