Poland's Belka denies possible candidacy to IMF

The head of Poland's central bank denies he could eventually take over as chief of the IMF from Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who many analysts expect to quit after his arrest on charges of attempted rape.
Marek Belka has been mentioned as a potential candidate to lead the International Monetary Fund.
The 59-year-old told TVN television channel on Tuesday that such speculation was "absurd, outlandish" and noted he still has five years to serve as the head of the National Bank of Poland.
A professor of economics, Belka has served as Poland's prime minister and finance minister as well as director of the IMF's European Department.
