UK inflation rises to 4.5 pct in April

Official data shows that consumer prices in Britain were 4.5 percent higher in April than a year earlier, as inflation accelerated again after surprising dropping to 4 percent in March.
Inflation has been 4 percent or more _ double the official target _ every month this year, and the Bank of England has forecast that it might rise to 5 percent before falling back.
The Office for National Statistics said Tuesday that the rate rose despite a decline in petrol and diesel prices. Higher prices for air transport, alcohol and tobacco were key factors in driving the rate higher.
