Austrian minister suggests Strauss-Kahn step down

Austria's finance minister say the head of the International Monetary Fund should consider stepping down to avoid damaging the institution in the wake of his arrest for sexual assault.
Maria Fekter said Tuesday that "considering the situation, that bail was denied, he has to figure out for himself, that he is hurting the institution."
Dominique Strass-Kahn was arrested in New York Saturday for allegedly attempting to rape a maid in a Manhattan hotel. A New York judge refused to release him on bail Monday.
Other European finance ministers meeting in Brussels refrained from calling on Strauss-Kahn to leave his post, but insisted that even if he were to leave, another European should take over at the helm of the IMF.
