Australia will set its carbon tax price by July

Australia says its carbon tax price will be set by July and will be far below a consultant's forecast of what would force a switch to greener technology.
Climate Change Minister Greg Combet said Tuesday the still-undetermined starting price would be "well south" of 40 Australian dollars (US$42) a metric ton.
The Sydney Morning Herald on Tuesday reported that a consultant to the government described that amount as the tipping point where the tax would force Australian electricity generators to switch from coal to cleaner gas technology.
Combet told reporters there were other views in the industry about the effects of different prices.
