Taiwan protests China pressuring UN body

Taiwan has voiced its displeasure at the World Health Organization for it describing the self-ruled island as a Chinese territory in a document.
Taiwan's Health Minister Chiu Wen-ta delivered a protest letter Monday during the annual meeting of the U.N. body in Geneva.
Last week, Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou accused Beijing of pressuring the WHO into adopting the reference.
Taiwan and China split amid civil war in 1949, but Beijing still claims Taiwan as its territory.
Taiwan became an observer in WHO's decision-making body in 2009 after Beijing responded positively to Ma's reconciliation efforts.
But opponents to Ma's China engagement policy have criticized the president for hurting Taiwan's sovereignty while forging close ties with China.
