Attorney says US imam will fight terror charges

The defense attorney for an elderly Miami imam charged with supporting Pakistani terrorists is asking that people not prejudge the Muslim cleric.
Attorney Khurrum Wahid said 76-year-old Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan will plead not guilty to charges of providing material support to the Pakistani Taliban.
Khan and one of his sons, 24-year-old Izhar Khan, appeared in court Monday for the first time since their indictment was unsealed. Neither entered a plea.
The younger Khan, also a Muslim imam, was given time to hire a lawyer. Another son, 37-year-old Irfan Khan, was to appear in Los Angeles federal court Monday.
They are among six people charged with funneling at least $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban, which violently opposes Pakistan's government and the U.S. Three of those charged remain in Pakistan.
