Ouattara invites Burkinabes back to Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast's President Alassane Ouattara told citizens of Burkina Faso that they are welcome in his country, and vowed to put an end to the racial targeting that characterized his predecessor's regime.
Ouattara on Monday extended the invitation during a press conference in Burkina Faso.
Ouattara won November's election, but he was only sworn in this month after strongman Laurent Gbagbo was removed by soldiers backing Ouattara. Gbagbo painted himself as a real Ivorian, and accused Ouattara of being a foreigner because Ouattara's parents come from the north, a region that straddles the Burkina Faso border.
In the final months of the political showdown, Gbagbo's regime incited the population to attack foreigners. Burkinabes were hunted down by mobs, doused in gasoline and set on fire. Hundreds of thousands fled.
