German Economy Minister Philipp Roesler, arrives at the party convention of Germany's Free Democratic Party (FDP) to deliver his speech Saturday May...

The newly elected leader of Chancellor Angela Merkel's junior coalition partner has vowed that his reshuffled Free Democratic Party will come good on its campaign promises after months of infighting that have cost it support.
Philipp Roesler told supporters at a party congress on Saturday that "starting today, the FDP will deliver," the DAPD reported from Rostock. He vowed to push for lower taxes _ a 2009 promise that has gone unfulfilled even as Germany's economy has maintained robust growth.
Roesler was elected earlier this week to replace Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle as party leader after the pro-business FDP took a drubbing in several state elections.
Roesler also became Germany's economy minister as part of the party shake-up.
