Turkey, Norway to cooperate in peacemaking

The foreign ministers of Turkey and Norway have signed an accord on exchanging diplomats to learn from each other's experiences in peace mediating efforts.
Turkey's Ahmet Davutoglu said Monday Turkey wanted to work more closely with Norway regarding developments in the Middle East, on the Palestinian issue, on Afghanistan and the Balkans.
Davutoglu said: "We will engage in joint efforts as much as possible, so that peace and stability dominate in these regions." He spoke after the signing ceremony with Norway's Jonas Gahr Stoere.
Norway is a lead peacemaker, engaged in reconciliation efforts in the Middle East, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Turkey also aspires for a regional mediating role, having hosted talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan and between Syria and Israel.
