Cricket South Africa says it has begun a lengthy process to appoint a new national coach following the Proteas' World Cup failure.
On the same day India's World Cup-winning coach and South Africa's No. 1 target, Gary Kirsten, returned home, CSA says on Wednesday it held its first meeting to review candidates and the process is "expected to take a couple of months."
CSA chief executive Gerald Majola says it is not able to reveal names as some candidates are still under contract.
Asked about the Proteas coaching role, former South Africa batsman Kirsten _ who stepped down as India coach following Saturday's victory in the World Cup final _ told e-News on arrival in Cape Town, "if it works out right something can happen."
