Ricky Ponting has no plans to retire, rejecting mounting speculation that he'll stand down as Australia captain after the World Cup.
Unsourced reports in Britain and Australia have indicated the 36-year-old Ponting, struggling for form with the bat and looking increasingly frustrated at the crease and in the field, will either quit or be fired.
Ponting has told Australian media that he has no plans to retire.
His agent says Ponting will "reaffirm his plans to continue playing international cricket this afternoon."
Australia plays host India in a World Cup quarterfinal here Thursday. The Australians lost to Pakistan after a batting collapse last Saturday, ending a 34-match unbeaten streak at the World Cup.
