Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

A ridge of high pressure will build from eastern China to the Sea of Japan, pushing moisture to the south and allowing for mostly sunny skies and dry conditions Thursday. In Japan, however, a low pressure system that brought widespread scattered rain showers will slowly move eastward. The back side of this system will continue pushing moisture onshore from the Sea of Japan, triggering light rain over the north.
Tokyo will see overcast skies, clearing by nightfall, with highs near 9 degrees Celsius. Beijing, Shanghai and Seoul will see mostly sunny skies with highs in the low teens C.
To the south, moisture from the South China Sea will push into southern China, creating widespread scattered rain showers from Laos to Chongqing. Hong Kong will be cloudy with a chance of rain showers, with highs in the low 20s C.
In Australia, a low pressure system will pass to the southeast while a ridge of high pressure will continue building into the Great Australian Bight. This will allow for a dry and warm day over Western and South Australia, with diminishing showers over Victoria and southern New South Wales. Sydney will see patchy clouds with highs in the low 20s C, but Melbourne will have rain with highs in the upper teens C.
