Kurdish lawmaker slaps Turkish police official

The Turkish prime minister has called for legal action against two Kurdish lawmakers after they were involved in clashes with police in the country's southeast.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan's call Tuesday came after media showed a lawmaker slapping a police official in the face while another, wearing a khaki Kurdish rebel outfit, is armed with a stone during protests at Monday's Kurdish spring festival, Nowruz, in the towns of Silopi and Batman.
Selahattin Demirtas, chairman of the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party, says the lawmakers lost control after police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse hundreds of Kurdish protesters.
Turkey has shut down Peace and Democracy's predecessors for ties to autonomy-seeking Kurdish rebels.
