Puerto Rican police detain men with $106,000

Puerto Rican police have detained two men who crossed into U.S. waters carrying $106,000 in undeclared cash and other contraband.
Police say the men were detained Sunday in a 26-foot (8-meter) motorboat loaded with the cash, an $18,000 check, 249 cases of cigarettes and two boxes of lottery tickets.
The two men have been identified as Puerto Rico residents Casey Brignoni Robles and Xavier I. Otero Rivera.
According to police, U.S. customs agents reported on Sunday that the boat did not stop at a mandatory checkpoint in Saint Thomas. The island is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The police said Monday that a maritime unit detained the boat about four miles (six kilometers) off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico.
