British beach volleyball gets host nation places

Britain will compete in Olympic beach volleyball for the first time after being awarded host nation qualification places for the 2012 London Games.
British Olympic Association chief executive Andy Hunt says the sport's national governing body "has made significant progress since its formation in 2006" in developing players to perform at "world-class level."
Hunt says the women's team should be particularly competitive.
Basketball, table tennis, judo, handball, indoor volleyball, water polo and weightlifting teams have also been given host nation places.
Beach volleyball was introduced as an Olympic event in 1996.
