Netherlands captain Peter Borren batted briefly during a World Cup warmup match against Kenya on Tuesday despite the team management having previously declared him unfit due an abdominal strain.
Borren missed his team's first warmup match against Sri Lanka last week and his name was not included in the team list early Tuesday.
Team manager Ed van Nierop said Borren had been "rested" and that team staff were working to get him fit in time for its tournament opener against England in Group B next week.
Borren lasted just four balls and scored one run, but did not show any obvious physical discomfort.
The New Zealand-born Borren is one of the experienced players in the Dutch side, having played 39 one-day internationals.
Netherlands defeated Kenya by two wickets in the match.
