Police: 2 Sons of Iraq killed in carjacking

Iraqi police and hospital officials say two government-backed Sunni militiamen have been killed in a carjacking in northern Iraq.
Police Brig. Gen. Sarhat Qadir said four gunmen surrounded the car carrying the two Sons of Iraq fighters on Saturday afternoon and shot them outside the city of Kirkuk, some 180 miles (290 kilometers) north of Baghdad.
Also known as Awakening Councils, the militiamen joined U.S. and Iraqi soldiers to battle al-Qaida in one of the turning points of the war.
But they have since been targeted by Sunni insurgent groups who call them traitors and brushed aside by Iraq's Shiite-led government that has yet to integrate them into security forces as promised.
