Japan, Australia tied at 0-0 after 45 minutes

Australia and Japan were tied 0-0 at the end of the first half of their Asian Cup final on Saturday after both teams missed chances.
Keisuke Honda, who had two efforts on Australia's goal earlier, set up Shinji Okazaki, whose shot appeared to graze the elbow of Brett Holman but Japan's calls for a penalty went unheeded in the 30th.
Tim Cahill then set up Harry Kewell but his volley from close went wide. Cahill created several chances earlier in the game for Kewell and other teammates that went unused.
Honda, the most enterprising Japan player, then sent Yasuhito Endo through and his return ball was met by striker Ryoichi Maeda, who drove his shot high.
