US man charged with hiring drug runner for cocaine

A Central Falls man has been charged with conspiracy for allegedly hiring a drug runner to deliver cocaine from Aruba to England.
The U.S. Attorney's office in Providence on Friday says 35-year-old Gustavo Querido was promised $10,000 to arrange for a drug runner from Rhode Island to travel to Aruba, and then carry a suitcase full of five to seven kilograms of cocaine to England.
Prosecutors say Querido offered the person $8,000 cash to make the trip, and then bought the person a ticket with his mother's credit card. The person wasn't allowed on the flight out of Boston because it was a one-way ticket.
Querido was arrested Monday and ordered detained Wednesday because he is considered a flight risk.
His lawyer did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.
