Germany's Machata wins in 2-man bobsled World Cup

Manuel Machata of Germany won a 2-man bobsled World Cup event on Saturday to close the gap on overall leader Alexsandr Zubkov in the standings.
Machata piloted Germany 1 to a combined two-run time of 2 minutes, 12.27 seconds, edging Beat Hefti's Switzerland 1 by 0.03 seconds. Hefti was fastest in the second run on his home St. Moritz course.
Germany 3 piloted by Thomas Florschuetz was third, 0.39 behind his teammate Machata.
Zubkov's Russia 1 crew was fourth.
Zubkov holds a small lead on Machata _ 1,430 points to 1,412 in the standings _ with one race remaining next weekend at Cesana, Italy.
Steven Holcomb piloted United States 1 to seventh place and is fourth in the standings, 214 points behind Zubkov.
