Macedonian opposition start parliament boycott

Macedonia's opposition parties have walked out of Parliament, saying they will boycott the legislature indefinitely to protest authorities' move to freeze the bank account of the country's most influential private television station.
The boycott is mainly symbolic, with opposition parties holding 38 of Parliament's 120 seats. But it highlights the growing dissatisfaction in Macedonia, one of Europe's poorest nations. The main opposition Social Democrats have been calling for months for early elections, a call rejected by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
Social Democrat leader Branko Crvenkovski led Friday's parliament walkout, saying authorities' freezing of the A1 TV station's bank account was politically motivated. Authorities say it is due to a tax fraud investigation.
