Cholera cases climb to 111 in Venezuela

Venezuela's government says the number of cholera cases in the country has jumped to 111, with more people testing positive after attending a wedding in the Dominican Republic.
Health Minister Eugenia Sader tells the Caracas-based television network Telesur that the patients are receiving treatment and that 27 of them have been hospitalized.
The number of cases rose swiftly Friday. A day earlier, Venezuelan authorities said that 37 people had the virus in the South American nation and that 12 others were hospitalized in the Dominican Republic.
Dominican officials said guests at the Jan. 22 wedding became infected when they ate lobster from a Dominican town bordering Haiti, where more than 3,000 people have died from a cholera epidemic.
