Serbian police say they are investigating claims by the Balkans' biggest TV mogul that he has been intentionally poisoned.
Zeljko Mitrovic is hospitalized in Germany, and his TV Pink said Thursday that he suffers from aplastic anemia, a potentially fatal blood disorder in which the body's bone marrow doesn't produce enough new blood cells.
TV Pink says that arson, lead and benzene have been found in Mitrovic's blood during his four-week stay at the hospital near Hamburg, Germany.
The station and the mogul have said he was poisoned for a protracted period, but not when or by whom.
Mitrovic, a former ally of late Serbian autocratic leader Slobodan Milosevic, has expanded his TV empire in former Yugoslavia with programs that mostly air so-called turbo-folk music.
