First UK prosecution for inciting homophobia

British prosecutors say two men are appearing at court to face the first prosecution for stirring up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation.
Razwan Javed, 30, and Kabir Ahmed, 27, are alleged to have distributed a leafleat calling for homosexuals to be executed.outside a mosque in the central England city of Derby, about 130 miles (210km) north of London. Prosecutors say the men handed out the leafleat in July 2010.
Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Sue Hemming said Friday the case is the first of its type in Britain. It follows changes to British law last year, which criminalized the incitement of homophobia.
Both men were scheduled to appear at a hearing at Derby Magistrates' Court.
