Copper prices rise on hope for stronger demand

Copper prices are rising on expectations that demand will strengthen as the global economy continues to improve.
Copper for March delivery added 7.15 cents Thursday to settle at $4.3385 a pound.
The metal is used in products from consumer electronics to construction materials.
Expectations for stronger demand are being driven by signs that the economies in Europe and the United States are improving even as China's growth continues.
At the same time, global copper supplies remain tight.
Metals such as platinum and palladium also are climbing. Other commodities are mixed.
