Tunisian union refuses role in interim government

Union officials say Tunisia's powerful UGTT labor union has refused to join a new transition government that is expected to be named soon.
The union said in a statement Thursday that the continued presence of ministers from the former ruling party is a barrier to the union's participation in the new Cabinet.
The announcement came after two days of drawn out negotiations to form the second national unity government since former dictator President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was forced into exile.
He fled Jan. 14, following large-scale, anti-government protests in Tunisia.
