Daimler to pay 125th anniversary bonus

Daimler AG says it will pay a special bonus of up to (EURO)1,000 ($1,370) each to employees to mark the 125th anniversary of its founder's first automobile patent.
Daimler said Thursday that it will make the payments _ totaling (EURO)125 million euros _ to employees worldwide at the end of February.
Anyone who has worked for Daimler for over a year will be eligible and the size of the payments will depend on how long people have been with the company. Daimler has 260,000 employees.
Carl Benz is credited with creating the world's first vehicle powered by an internal-combustion engine. He filed his patent application on Jan. 29, 1886.
Daimler says that it agreed separately with the employee council on bonus payments of (EURO)3,150 to workers in Germany to reflect its successful performance last year.
