Klaus Kroell fastest in WCup downhill training

Austrian skier Klaus Kroell was fastest in a World Cup downhill training run at Chamonix on Thursday.
Kroell, who won the downhill two weeks ago on the Lauberhorn course at Wengen, Switzerland, finished in 2 minutes, 2.53 seconds. He was 0.04 seconds quicker than countryman Georg Streitberger and 0.10 clear of Italy's Christoph Innerhofer.
The training run on the La Verte course in the French Alps was interrupted after Austrian skier Mario Scheiber crashed and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital in Sallanches.
The 27-year-old Scheiber's condition or the nature of his injuries were not immediately known, but Austrian team doctor Martin Gruber said that the skier was able to recognize him.
