90s tennis star Chanda Rubin's house burns down

Lafayette fire officials say the home of 1990s tennis star Chanda Rubin burned down during an intense thunderstorm.
Assistant Chief Jerry Delhomme says Rubin was home but got out safely when the fire broke out late Wednesday. He says nobody was hurt.
He says it looks as if lightning touched off the fire, which apparently started in the attic. Delhomme says investigators were to return in daylight.
He says numerous calls from Rubin's alarm system, neighbors and Rubin herself came in within a few minutes shortly after 9 p.m. local time.
Rubin won seven WTA Tour singles titles and reached as high as No. 6 in the rankings in 1996. Her best run at a Grand Slam came that year, reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open.
