Turkish president to meet pro-Kurdish mayor

Turkey's president is visiting the country's Kurdish-dominated southeast hours after the country's civilian and military leaders rejected demands by the minority for autonomy and recognition of their language.
Abdullah Gul is meeting authorities and the pro-Kurdish mayor of Diyarbakir, the largest city in the region, on Thursday.
The country's National Security Council said after a meeting Wednesday night that the contry is indivisible and added that no attempt aimed at challenging the official Turkish language will be accepted.
The Council warned that the country will continue to fight against autonomy-seeking Kurdish rebels.
Kurds still hope Gul will make conciliatory statements.
