Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

More active weather will develop in parts of northeastern Asia on Friday.
A low pressure system located just off the coast of northern Honshu in the Sea of Japan will trek eastward across northern Honshu and exit into the western Pacific Ocean through the day. This system will provide a good soaking to much of Japan. The heaviest precipitation is expected in northern Honshu and southern Hokkaido.
In addition to precipitation, strong winds will wrap around this system and sweep across the isles. The winds will usher colder air into northeastern Asia, triggering lower daytime highs.
Behind this system, high pressure will build across eastern China and the Korean peninsula with dry conditions.
Tokyo will see scattered clouds and cooler temperatures Friday with highs near 9 Celsius.
Seoul will see more cold weather on Friday with plenty of sunshine and daytime highs in -5 C. Beijing will see similar conditions with highs near 0 C.
For Australia, showers and thunderstorms will continue across the north due to a dominant area of low pressure. Moist, onshore winds associated with high pressure in the Tasman Sea will also enhance chances of showers along the Queensland coast. A low pressure system over the Timor Sea may intensify as it moves south. This will result in moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across northern Western Australia.
