Lance Armstrong pulls out of NZ triathlon

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong has pulled out of a multisports event in New Zealand next month in which he had planned to relaunch his triathlon career.
The American cyclist was to compete in a sprint distance triathlon at the Blue Lakes multisports festival at Rotorua on the North Island on Jan. 29.
Organizers said Thursday Armstrong now planned to return to the United States immediately after competing in the Tour Down Under cycle race in Australia from Jan. 16 to 23.
Armstrong has indicated the Australian race will likely be his last professional race outside the United States. He has also signalled he may continue to compete in triathlon and multisport events when his cycling career ends.
