Reports: Poland's Gen. Jaruzelski hospitalized

Gen. Wojciech Jaruzelski, Poland's last communist leader, has been hospitalized, media said Wednesday.
Poland's private TVN24 television said the 87 year old is being treated in an Interior Ministry hospital's cardiology ward in the northern city of Olsztyn. The report gave no reason for his hospitalization.
A nurse on duty at the hospital, and Interior Ministry spokeswoman Malgorzata Wozniak both declined to comment on the report.
Polish news agency PAP said Jaruzelski's condition is "good" and that he is expected to leave hospital soon. The agency, which did not disclose its sources, said he is apparently being treated for pneumonia. Government security agents are guarding his room, PAP said.
The news agency said Jaruzelski was spending Christmas at his holiday cottage in the village of Jablonka, in the Mazury lake district, when he was taken to the nearby hospital.
In 1981 Jaruzelski imposed martial law in Poland, intending to crush the national Solidarity freedom movement that eventually ousted communists from power in 1989.
In 2009 Jaruzelski had surgery for a face tumor, and he had been hospitalized with pneumonia and heart problems a year earlier.
