Ex-anti-Milosevic leader dies

Vladan Batic, one of the former opposition leaders of a popular revolt that ousted late autocratic president Slobodan Milosevic in 2000, has died. He was 61.
The Serbian parliament says that Batic, who also served as the justice minister in the pro-Western, post-Milosevic government, has died after a "long and difficult disease."
Batic was one of the lawmakers in the current, 250-member assembly.
He had been active in Serbia's opposition movement which fought against Milosevic throughout his decade-long rule in the 1990s.
After Milosevic's fall, former opposition leaders formed a government that restored ties with the West and extradited Milosevic to a U.N. war crimes tribunal in 2001.
Batic was a lawyer. He had a wife and three daughters.
