Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

An unsettled weather pattern will remain in Japan and the Korea peninsula over the next couple of days as a large low pressure system in the Sea of Japan intensifies.
Precipitation rate is expected to pick up through the day Thursday, especially in Japan.
Snow showers will be on and off over the Korea Peninsula, while some light mixed precipitation will fall in China's Shangdong peninsula.
The cold front associated with this system will sag southward, bringing much colder air and rain to far southeastern China and Taiwan. Much of northeastern China will continue to battle with bitter cold weather as arctic air sits in place.
In Australia, a trough of low pressure will remain stationary off the northeastern coast, supporting showers and thunderstorms across northern and western parts of Queensland.
A low pressure is expected to intensify over the Timor Sea and then move south. This will result in moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across northern section of Northern Territory and far northern Western Australia. This system has a potential to become a tropical cyclone.
Elsewhere, a slight chance of showers is expected over eastern coast of New South Wales as moist onshore flow streams northward from the Tasman Sea.
