Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

More wet weather is expected in eastern Asia on Friday. A low pressure system developing over the Korean Peninsula will gain strength as it moves into the Sea of Japan, and associated winds will mean a possible chance of snow over the Korean Peninsula through the first half of the day. While temperatures are expected to warm during the next couple of days, conditions will remain chilly on Friday. Seoul will experience scattered clouds with small chances of snow as daytime highs in the area rise to near 3 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, precipitation will increase across Japan as this system edges eastward. Areas near the Sea of Japan will experience the heaviest amounts of precipitation Friday night. Meanwhile, much of eastern Japan will stay dry and mild on Friday. A nice southerly-southwesterly flow will keep daytime highs at near normal temperatures. Tokyo will see plenty of sunshine with highs near 10 C.
Elsewhere, a low pressure system located just east of Honshu will lift northward through the western Pacific Ocean and reach the northern Kuril Islands and the Kamchatka Peninsula, bringing significant precipitation.
To the south, high pressure over southeastern China and Taiwan will bring fair weather and milder temperatures. Shanghai will have highs near 7 C, while Taipei rises to 15 C.
In Australia, low pressure will dominate much of the nation with showery weather. The heaviest amounts of precipitation will fall in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. In the east, chances of showers and thunderstorms will remain over Brisbane as it reaches a daytime high of 31 C. Sydney will see possible showers with daytime highs near 28 C.
