Human Rights report slams Iran for harassing gays

Human Rights Watch has accused Iran of legal and persistent harassment of gays, and has called on it to rescind laws allowing execution for consensual same-sex intercourse.
A report by the New York-based organization documents cases of arbitrary arrests, invasions of homes, mistreatment of detainees and the denial of due legal process to people suspected of nonconformist sexual activity.
The 102-page report released Wednesday cites allegations that suspected offenders were themselves sexually abused in detention by security authorities.
Iranian law criminalizes all sex outside traditional marriage. Human Rights Watch says gays are among the estimated 130 people on death row in Iran convicted of crimes committed when they were younger than 18.
