UK doping chief: some sanctions create `confusion'

Britain's anti-doping chief says some punishments handed to drug cheats by the International Olympic Committee and British Olympic Association are too severe and create confusion.
Andy Parkinson says it would be better if all Olympic governing bodies follow the standards set by the World Anti-Doping Agency, which recommends a two-year suspension for athletes who fail drug tests for the first time.
Parkinson says "we need to ensure the framework for anti-doping ... is able to be implemented consistently worldwide."
British athletes who fail drug tests are banned from the Olympics for life by the BOA. Under IOC rules, any athlete who receives a doping suspension of at least six months is barred from the next Olympics.
