Speed to hold talks with Wales

The Football Association of Wales says it will hold a news conference on Tuesday when it is expected to name Sheffield United manager Gary Speed as the new coach of the national team.
United, which plays in England's second-tier League Championship, gave the former Leeds and Newcastle midfielder permission on Monday to speak to Wales regarding the coaching position, which has been vacant since John Toshack resigned in September.
Brian Flynn has been in temporary charge of Wales since Toshack quit following the country's disappointing start to its 2012 European Championship qualifying campaign.
Speed, who won 85 caps for Wales, was hired as manager of United three matches into this season following the firing of Kevin Blackwell. It is Speed's first managerial role since retiring as a player last season.
