Russian-born Boriso-Glebsky wins Sibelius contest

Russian-born Nikita Boriso-Glebsky beat 37 international contestants to win Finland's Sibelius violin competition with a cash prize of (EURO)20,000 ($26,300).
Finnish violinist Petteri Iivonen won the (EURO)15,000 second prize followed by the youngest of the finalists, 16-year-old Esther Yoo of the United States who took third spot with (EURO)10,000.
The 25-year-old Russian, who lives in Belgium, also was awarded for the best interpretation of Sibelius' violin concerto _ a compulsory performance for all six finalists.
Thursday's competition was the 10th International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition, named after the Finnish composer. It is open to violinists younger than 30 and has been held in Helsinki every five years since 1965.
