'Despicable' on way to $500 million worldwide

"Despicable Me" continues to wow family audiences in 23 international territories, earning an impressive $19.1 million this past weekend, well on its way to a $500 million worldwide gross.
Evidence that global audiences love to be universally scared can be seen in the No. 2 and No. 3 films in the international markets, with "Paranormal Activity 2" in 22 territories earning $13.9 million and "Saw 3D" just $1 million behind with $12.9 million, but in 10 fewer territories.
"Megamind," which is opening this Friday in North America, is already playing in the Ukraine and has earned $9.5 million since opening there on Oct. 28.
Here are the top 20 movies at international theaters last weekend, followed by international gross for the weekend (excluding North America), number of theater locations, number of territories, worldwide gross to date (including North America), and number of weeks in release as compiled Wednesday by global media measurement company Rentrak Corp. and provided by Hollywood.com:
